What data do we process?

When you visit our website, for technical reasons we automatically record the start and end times of your visit and, in some cases, depending on your computer settings, your browser and operating system information, your IP address, and the name and URL of the page from which you arrived at our website. The system automatically generates statistical data from this information. We do not link this data to other personal data; we use it solely for statistical purposes. Tasz.hu sends cookies to visitors’ computers. Cookies are necessary, among other things, for the automatic display of messages to users. HCLU does not use cookies for commercial purposes, but it does use them to promote donations through remarketing tools (Google tracking code, Facebook pixel, TikTok pixel, Barion pixel).

Anyone can visit the website without having to provide any personal data beyond the technically automatic data processing.

In the case of newsletter requests, questions, legal aid, support, questionnaire and contact forms, and other inquiries, HCLU uses the user’s name, address, telephone number, and email address for contact purposes. The latter are personal data if the data subject also provides their contact details. In the case of newsletter subscribers, we treat the fact that they open individual letters and their areas of interest related to HCLU ‘s activities as personal data. HCLU does not make this data available to other visitors to the website.

If you support TASZ with a donation, whether via PayPal or another payment method, TASZ may process your name, bank account number, the amount of the donation (donation, supporting member fee, etc.), and the date of the transfer. You can find detailed information about this on the payment page.

In addition to the above, TASZ also produces and publishes content on its website and social media platforms. This activity is closely related to freedom of expression and is considered to be an exercise of that freedom, as we report on public affairs and inform the public about them. In addition, the purpose of our content production and communication is to promote TASZ’s mission and organization and to recruit supporters for this mission and our organization. As part of its content production activities, TASZ processes the data of all natural persons who have contributed to the production of content as sources or who are referred to in the content. Typically, we process the following data in the course of our activities: the name, position, place of work, age, and place of residence of the data subject, as well as other data indicating how the data subject is related to the subject matter of the edited content. The Data Controller processes special categories of personal data if the data subject has given their explicit consent, or if the data subject has expressly made them public, or if the processing is necessary for reasons of substantial public interest under EU or Member State law and is proportionate to the aim pursued.

Legal basis for data processing

The processing of personal data through the use of this website, as well as the processing of all other data provided by the user, is carried out with the user’s voluntary consent and with their knowledge of this information.

In our content production and publication activities, the legal basis for data processing is, on the one hand, the consent of those appearing in the content, such as those who make statements to us [GDPR Article 6(1)(a)]. In other cases, when we report on public figures in connection with public affairs, the legal basis for our data processing is the public interest of our activities [GDPR Article 6(1)(e)]. HCLU is a public watchdog organization whose purpose and constitutional function is to disseminate information and raise awareness about fundamental rights. TASZ is a public benefit association; it does not engage in commercial activities, but promotes the public benefit objectives set out in its statutes. These objectives include the protection of human rights, which includes communicating content relevant to civil liberties to society. Our activities are therefore in the public interest, as stated in the legal definition of public benefit, which states that they “contribute to the satisfaction of the common needs of society and individuals.” Respect for fundamental rights is such a common need in the most fundamental sense.
