Tilos Radio commentators have been released from pre-trial detention
The Budapest Capital Court’s competent council has changed the decision of the court of first instance and immediately released the two commentators of Tilos Radio.
The two young men was taken to pre-trial detention and kept in jail for 10 days without any reason or evidence regarding their participation in the Budapest riots. Also a dozen of people were released after having been taken into pre-trial detention in connection with the riots. HCLU is being affected with several cases, also representing some of them in the criminal proceedings.
HCLU welcomes the decision showing that beside the “criminal” element, the “jurisdiction” function of the court is finally seem to be present.
The warrant ordering the immediate release included the following:
•The court found the appeal of the defense well founded
•There were no evidence of the two young men being involved in the riots
•There were evidences contrary to the police reports, supporting the confessions
and also the defense’s appeal
•There were no reason for the pre-trial detention.
